Hi, I’m Alys

With two decades of dance and movement experience, an MA in Applied Theatre and a BA in Drama and Religious Studies, I bring a rich background to my work. I am a trained Forest School Level 4 Trainer, hold a Level 3 in Bushcraft, and I’m a Pilates Mat instructor.

I believe in the transformative power of movement for personal growth and self-awareness. As a Forest School Leader, I've observed the deep impact nature has on well-being which is why I’m dedicated to supporting people to nurture their relationship with the natural world and making it accessible to all.

In my sessions, I provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their bodies, cultivate a unique movement language, and tap into innate creativity.

My Approach

Growing up, nature was my sanctuary—a place of freedom where I felt happy and in tune with my body. However, during my teenage years, a disconnection from these spaces, coupled with a lack of movement and creativity, left me feeling introverted and trapped.

My journey with dance began at university, where Belly dance classes became a transformative path of self-discovery. After many years studying and performing Belly dance and Hilal Dance (contemporary Egyptian Dance), I discovered Flamenco and I spent several years studying it in London. Eventually, I wanted to immerse myself in it’s rich culture, this lead to spending three years in Granada, Spain. Through Flamenco I found a profound and authentic expression of the human spirit, a way to connect with emotions, to root ourselves in the earth and a shared sense of humanity.

Uniting my passion for movement and nature, I've spent years as a Forest School Leader, fostering reconnection with the natural environment. This experience emphasised the need to embody our relationship with nature beyond intellectual understanding.

As a mother of a two-year-old, I've found that my understanding of nature connection and passion for dance has been invaluable in navigating this transformative journey. Since becoming a mother, I pursued training as a Pilates instructor to establish a practice that centres and strengthens my body, enabling me to cope with the daily challenges that motherhood brings.
